Minoring in Math

If you are interested in learning more math after transfer but don’t want to commit to a full major, you may want to consider a minor in math. Minor requirements vary widely by school, so be sure to check with your transfer school to find out what their specific minor requirements are. In general:

  • All of the lower division math courses will usually be required. This will include all of Math 150, 160, 200, 210, and 220 here at SBCC.
  • You will need to take several upper division math courses after you transfer. Most schools require 2-6 upper division courses.
  • Most schools require a transition to higher math/proofs course as a prerequisite to upper division courses. This is usually a lower division course, however, you will most likely need to take it at the transfer institution.
