Fall Course Modality Changes - Frequently Asked Questions

If you have received a letter in your Pipeline email alerting you that your course modality has changed, please take a look at some frequently asked questions below.

  • We recognize that your expectations for an on-campus class will not be met and for this we sincerely apologize. Instructors were given the option to return to an online format for health and safety reasons given the increase in COVID-19 cases in Santa Barbara County.

  • This change has already been made and should be reflected on your schedule of classes. You are now fully enrolled in the course online.

  • Log into Pipeline, click on the Student tab and then select “My Class Schedule and Bill” and select the appropriate term to view your current schedule of classes.

  • Yes.

  • If you plan to stay in the course online, no. You do not need to take any further action. However, if you do not wish to be enrolled in this course online, you do need to drop the class. The deadline to drop a semester length class with a full refund and without a “W” notation on your transcript is Friday, September 4, 2021. (Please note that short classes may have a different drop deadline. Please check the schedule of classes).

  • Maybe. If you are registered for more than one face-to-face/on-campus course, you will be notified separately for each course if those courses are also being moved to a fully online format. We strongly encourage you to check your schedule of classes.

  • Yes. If you paid for the class, you are eligible for a refund if you drop by the stated deadline. The deadline to drop a semester length class with a full refund and without a “W” notation on your transcript is Friday, September 4, 2021. (Please note that short classes may have a different drop deadline, Please check the schedule of classes).

  • If you choose to stay in this class, your Financial Aid will not be impacted. However, if you drop this course and do not replace it with another course, your Financial Aid could be impacted. Please contact your Financial Aid advisor if you have additional questions.

  • If you choose to stay in this class, your eligibility for the SBCC Promise Program will not be impacted. However, if you drop this course and do not replace it with another course, your Promise eligibility could be impacted. Please contact the Promise staff if you have additional questions.

  • Log in to Pipeline and go to Registration. Follow the instructions on the Add/Drop Classes page for dropping a class.

  • The deadline to drop a semester length class with a full refund and without a “W” notation on your transcript is Friday, September 4, 2021. (Please note that short classes may have a different drop deadline, Please check the schedule of classes).

  • Yes. There will still be a limited number of classes being taught face-to-face/on campus. Please go to the schedule of classes and click the On-Campus button under Fall 2021 for a list of all classes being offered on campus. Please note that on-campus classes are subject to change.

  • Yes. If you are now fully online, you may be eligible for a refund of some or all your required fees. Please click here for more information.

  • The spring schedule of classes should be available in October and our goal is to offer more in-person/on-campus classes. Santa Barbara City College encourages all students to get vaccinated so that we can return to in-person classes in spring.

  • New international students must enroll in at least one in-person class to maintain legal F-Visa status. Please be sure to check in with your International Student advisor if you have any questions about your schedule or visa status.
