SBCC School of Extended Learning is proud to announce the free 'Back-to-Work' program. 

The goal of the program is to help unemployed Santa Barbara County community members secure employment. If you have lost your job or been forced to work less hours due to COVID-19, this program is for you!

Students will receive grant funding which may be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as food, housing, health care, or child care.

Participating students will complete an eight-week, 30-32 hour per week tailored training program with the goal of job placement.  The program meets Monday-Friday via Zoom™ video conference.  Space is limited. Programs begin as early as March 15. 

Students will receive:
  • Grant funding of $200 per week, paid bi-monthly
  • Funds for childcare, if applicable
  • Loaner Chromebook, Hotspot, and course materials
  • English language support for English as a Second Language students
  • Tutoring support
  • Job placement assistance 
Eligibility:
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must live in Santa Barbara County
  • Must be able to participate Monday-Friday for up to 7 hours per day
  • Must be available from March 15-May 7, 2021 for some programs
  • Basic English, reading and writing skills
  • Must attend a 3-hour required pre-program meeting
